Position of the Coalition at the provincial pre-budget consultations

A recent study shows that 92% of Canadians support gender equality. In the brief submitted to the Finance Minister as part of the provincial pre-budget consultations, the Coalition argued that the provincial budget should reflect these values, certainly shared by New Brunswickers. Consult our brief and see our recommendations:
  • accelerate the pay equity work in the public sector;
  • make the expected payments to the child care, home support and transition house workers;
  • improve the methodology for workplaces where there are no predominantly male jobs;
  • include funding for pay equity equity adjustments for group home workers;
  • return to the personal and corporation income tax levels of 2008, return to the 2011 level for small and medium-sized businesses and introduce a new tax bracket of 21% on personal income exceeding $150,000;
  • fund a new mechanism to replace the Advisory Council on the Status of Women.
