Support for pay equity legislation in the private sector at the SANB's AGM

This last weekend, the Société de l'Acadie du Nouveau-Brunswick (SANB)  adopted a Development plan for l'Acadie, in New Brunswick, during its annual general meeting.

This plan will guide the SANB and its members in the next five years. It includes important tools to promote women's specific needs.

For instance, one of the objectives of the economic strategy is to increase economic equality between women and men in l'Acadie. Below are some of the ways this will be put in place:

  • To support the adoption and implementation of pay equity legislation in both the public and private sectors;
  • To promote an analysis of the impact of laws as well as governmental policies, budgets and programmes in terms of economic equality between men and women;
  • To promote accessible and affordable early childhood education and child care services for l'Acadie, New Brunswick.

The governance and citizen participation strategy makes way for the use of gender-based analysis of it's developement plan's results.  Thereby creating the potential of pushing forward many women's issues.

The SANB promotes the rights and interests of the Acadian community of New Brunswick. It represents 20 000 members and 34 organizations.
