Job Summary

The Project Officer is responsible for the project “Valuing jobs in the community care sector”, under the direction of the Coalition’s Executive Director. The project focusses on the community care sector and is three-fold: i) communication and promotion of pay equity, ii) job evaluation, and iii) advocacy for public investments to ensure pay equity in the community care sector. The Project Officer will work with an advisory committee in order to develop and implement a 28 months action plan.

The targeted community care services are special care homes, support to family agencies, community residences, transition houses, home support agencies and Adult Development Activities, Programs and Training (ADAPT) programs.
 

Communication and promotion

  • Establish and implement a communication plan to inform community care workers and the population about our project and pay equity
  • Prepare and distribute information material for workers and the population

Job evaluation

  • Set up pay equity committees in the targeted community care services
  • Adapt training and support tools for the pay equity committees
  • Develop and implement a job evaluation for the pay equity committees
  • Prepare a report on the results of the pay equity analysis

Advocacy

  • Develop an advocacy strategy with workers and partners for public investments to ensure pay equity in the community care sector
  • Ensure the implementation and evaluation of the advocacy strategy


Qualifications

  • University Degree in a related field: Sociology, Economics, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Social Work, Political Sciences, Feminist Studies, etc.
  • Knowledge of pay equity and job evaluations
  • Knowledge of the community care sector in New Brunswick
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in group facilitation and adult training
  • Ability to work with teams and in partnerships
  • Excellent organizational skills, initiative and autonomy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both official languages
  • Driving license

Working Conditions

  • 37.5 hours a week, starting on November 12
  • 28 months contract
  • $23.50 to $25.50 an hour
  • The person hired will work from Moncton but will travel across the province regularly.
