Pay equity is missing from the NB poverty reduction plan

The Common Front for Social Justice (CFSJ) recently published its analysis of the provincial government's document “Overcoming Poverty Together – The New Brunswick Economic and Social Inclusion Plan”.

Among its concerns, the CFSJ was disheartened by the absence of legislation to enforce pay equity in the private sector as a poverty reduction measure: "This important element of poverty reduction had been requested by a growing number of New Brunswickers since the year 2000, as a way to move thousands of women out of poverty."
