Open Letter to Premier Susan Holt

Dear Premier,

In your electoral platform, you stated: “Our province is full of resilient, creative and compassionate people. Yet far too many are struggling under the weight of a broken system that has left them waiting for too long for care, for relief, and for the solutions they need to live their lives fully. It doesn’t have to be this way “(our emphasis).

Ms. Holt, we fully agree that change is possible, and it is with this in mind that we are sending you this letter. Your electoral platform includes a number of solutions that could make a significant difference in the lives of New Brunswickers, and we are eager for you to implement them.

We understand that your platform also pledged to balance the budget annually. However, this promise was made before the Trump administration ushered in an unprecedented climate of economic uncertainty. In the current context, balancing the budget loses its relevance. Instead, we must prioritize the economic security of our population and protect our environment.

In our view, your first budget must be bold and offer hope to the people of New Brunswick. It should include concrete actions to strengthen public programs, address the needs of women, seniors, people living in poverty, low-wage workers, tenants, artists, and others, while also tackling the impacts of climate change.

New Brunswickers will support a government that listens to their needs and offers a better future.

Sincerely,
