The community engagement officer will report to the executive director and work with other Coalition staff members and partners from the non-profit sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with non-profit sector personnel and managers, and in assisting them to promote fair and equitable wages and working conditions in the non-profit sector. The community engagement officer will also contribute to the Coalition’s collective activities.
Mobilization
- Set up and coordinate a Non-Profit Advisory Committee
- Recruit and mobilize non-profit sector personnel and management
- Coordinate meetings and consultations with the non-profit sector in different regions of New Brunswick
Education and advocacy
- Develop and implement a communications and advocacy plan with the Advisory Committee to promote fair and equitable wages and working conditions in the non-profit sector
- Develop educational materials
- Prepare publications for social media, in support of the Coalition's communications strategy
- Give presentations in various regions of the province
- Support efforts to demand fair and equitable pay and working conditions in the non-profit sector
Administration and organizational support
- Collaborate in the Coalition's collective activities and perform the administrative tasks required to ensure the smooth running of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor in a relevant field: communications and public relations, business administration with specialization in human resources management, labour relations, social work, sociology, women and gender studies, or other related fields
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both official languages
- Interpersonal skills
- Experience in project management
- Ability to work in teams and in partnership
- Organizational skills, initiative and autonomy
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of the New Brunswick non-profit sector
- Knowledge of women’s issues and gender issues in the labour market
- Knowledge of graphic conception software
- Knowledge of human resources management
Working conditions
- Approximately 17-month contract, until March 2026, with possibility of renewal
- 35 hours per week
- Wages: $25,50 to $29,61 per hour, depending on education and experience
- 3 weeks vacations and 10 days of paid sick days per year (prorated)
- Flexible working hours, but occasional evening and week-end work
- Frequent travel within the province
