Sylvia Melanson has been a provincial government employee for 37 years. She is currently employed with Social Development as a Screener/Basic Case Manager.  She has been actively involved with the New Brunswick Union (NBU) approximately for the last 25 years as a participating member, activist, Director of Administrative Assistants component, member of the NBU Board of Directors & on various NBU committees such as Chair of the NBU Women’s Committee.  Being on the Women’s Committee & participating on NUPGE Advisory Committee on Women’s Issue on a national level has been extremely rewarding. The committee has had countless meetings and discussions on standing women’s issues across our country such as pay equity, child care, work/life balance, poverty, homelessness, domestic violence and so many more.  She believes it’s an honour to be part of such working groups attempting to move these issues positively forward to enrich & better the lives of women.
