Selena Richard is from Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska, a small French-speaking community near Edmundston. She holds an Honours degree in Psychology and is currently studying for a Master's degree in Social Work at Université de Moncton. Selena interned with the Coalition for Pay Equity in the summer of 2023, and she is currently writing her thesis on the retirees of the Edmundston paper mill, who are currently facing reductions to their pension benefits due to their employer's bankruptcy in 2009. Selena works as a research assistant at Université de Moncton. Additionally, she works with a family who recently immigrated to Canada. Selena strongly believes that it is time for all New Brunswickers to be covered by pay equity legislation. Women or people in female-dominated jobs should be guaranteed a salary that reflects their responsibilities, qualifications, working conditions, and efforts, rather than being forced into unfair wages that often exasperate precarious situations.
