Katya Abbasi

Katya Abbasi has worked with a variety of institutions, both governmental and non-governmental, inside Canada and abroad. She has helped to develop and implement strategic plans to enhance economic development, and to boost civic engagement as well as social inclusion. Over time, Katya has gained the experience and knowledge to manage projects that aim to reduce the cultural barriers that hinder women and young girls from participating in the economy and becoming financially independent. She has joined several organizations in the Middle East and Canada that focus on women's issues, immigration, refugee matters, and youth. This exposure had contributed positively to building her leadership skills, which includes conceptual thinking, strategic orientation, outcome focus, initiative, effective interactive communication, partnering, networking, and dealing with multicultural backgrounds. "Making a difference within communities through social development and implementing strategic plans based on the needs and competencies of the targeted segments" is her goal.
